Unless you have prepared the ice bag using the alcohol solution explained above, then you should not store the ice bag in the freezer. If you do, the melted ice will free solid and you will tear the ice bag when you try to break it up.

Yes, our ice bags are great for heat therapy. Just fill the ice bags with hot tap water (not boiling) and apply with the straps as per normal.

Yes. Orthopaedic surgeons recommend icing after surgery. All hospitals have ice so you can request your nurse to fill your ice bag for you when you're recovering from surgery in the hospital ward.

Yes, that's what makes us different! A lot of gel packs and ice blankets are heavy and bulky to travel with. Our simple ice bags with straps weigh less than 500g, which means they travel easy and you can fill with ice any time, anywhere without needing access to a freezer.

We recommend our Medium Universal Ice Pack for post-operative knee surgery recovery. It’s designed for ease of use in both home and hospital settings, making it simple for patients or nurses to apply—especially if you’re wearing a knee brace. If you are over 95kg, we recommend the Large Universal for more coverage.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Place 1 part alcohol (eg. Methylated Spirits) to 3 parts water into your ice bag and store in the freezer. If the bag freezes too solid, add more alcohol. If it's too stiff, add more water. You can keep the ice bag in the freezer for regular use.

* If using just ice, do not place your ice bag in freezer after use as the melted ice will freeze solid and you will risk puncturing your ice bag. 

Caution: Alcohol has a lower freezing temperature that water so the ice bag will be very cold. You may need a thin layer of material between your skin and the ice bag to avoid an ice burn.

Empty the ice bag after use and allow it to air dry. The neoprene support can be hand washed in cool water with mild soap, then air dried.

On average, BodyICE stays cold from 2-6 hours (with ice) and warm for around 30–40 minutes (with hot water), depending on conditions.

Our packs are reusable, mess-free, and designed to stay securely in place with compression — no slipping, no leaks, and no need to hold them in position. They’re trusted by athletes, weekend warriors, and healthcare professionals alike.

Apply for 15–20 minutes at a time, allowing the area to return to normal temperature before reapplying. Repeat throughout the day as needed.

Yes — you can safely use BodyICE directly on the skin for the recommended 15-20mins. For prolonged use, we recommend placing a thin layer of clothing or a towel between the pack and your skin to prevent ice burn or heat irritation.

Our ice bags with straps are a two part system which includes and neoprene support and ice bag. These will stay colder for longer than our gel sleeves. The gel sleeves are made from hydrogel and are a hot/cold compression sleeve that you slip on. It will retain its temperature for a maximum 20minutes. Both are a great options for any kind of injury recovery.
