Strawberry & Blueberry Oatmeal Lactation Smoothie

A mama has got to keep her energy levels up full-stop! It’s even more important if you’re breastfeeding.

Smoothies are great for a quick nutrient dense snack and this smoothie in particular has some key ingredients that will help support your milk supply. Namely galactagogues – substances that naturally support breast milk production.

Flaxseed: Flaxseed has phytoestrogens that can influence breast milk production. Flaxseed also contains essential fatty acids.

Chia Seeds: Chia seeds serve as a rich source of calcium, fatty oils, fiber, protein, vitamins, and anti-oxidants. The healthy nutrients aid in proper brain development of your baby. The food also enhances your breast milk production rate naturally.

Oats:

  • contain proteins, vitamins, and minerals. They are high in iron, zinc, manganese, and calcium. They are an excellent source of soluble fiber.
  • contain B vitamins to help increase energy, elevate mood and fight off exhaustion, anxiety, stress, and depression.
  • contain plant estrogens which are associated with the stimulation of the milk glands and a greater production of breast milk.
  • contain Beta-glucan  – a type of fiber that’s thought to raise the levels of the breastfeeding hormone prolactin. Higher prolactin levels can have a positive effect on breast milk production.

Try this lactation smoothie for a healthy, nutrient dense snack that will be a great energy booster for you and help support the demands of breastfeeding.
