We all want to BE ACTIVE. We all want to feel like we're heading in the right direction, like we're moving towards achieving our goals. But...how can we keep the momentum and keep motivated from week to week?
Australian Hockeyroo, Georgia Wilson breaks it down and shares some best tips for us on how to STAY MOTIVATED! You can follow Georgia on instagram @georgia.s.wilson.
1. Set goals
Set a goal of how many times you want to exercise this week and KEEP YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE TO IT!
2. Make it fun
Get in some exercise you LOVE! Whether that's swimming, tennis or even paddle boarding! Not all workouts have to be in the gym.
3. Make physical activity part of your daily routine
If it's hard to find time for exercise, don't fall back on excuses. Schedule in your workouts as you would any other important activity.
4. Put it on paper
Are you hoping to become more fit? Boost your energy? Sleep better? Manage a chronic condition? Write down your goals. Seeing the benefits of regular exercise and writing your goals down on paper may help you stay motivated.
5. Join forces with friends!
You're not in this alone. Invite friends to join you when you exercise. Work out with your partner or other loved ones. Play soccer with your kids. Working out with someone else is a great way to stay motivated.
6. Reward yourself
After each exercise session, take a few minutes to savor the good feelings that exercise gives you!
7. Be flexible
If you're too busy to work out or don't feel up to it, take a rest day. Be gentle with yourself if you need a break. The important thing is to get back on track as soon as you can!
Remember at the end of the day... accountability is KEY! Go out there and crush it!
Achieving goals is not just about taking action and the "doing" component. It's also about mindset. We need to give ourselves the space and time to imagine ourselves achieving goals and then we can go about putting the strategy in place to do so.
