You have had your beautiful baby and you have been gifted beautiful blankets, toys and clothes. Maybe some nice new slippers for yourself and a face mist, but what you are really going to need immediatey post birth are our post birth ice packs.
Your body has gone through a major event. Birthing a baby is truly miraculous. Over the past nine months, it has grown your beautiful baby and you have delivered him or her into the world. This can put a huge strain on your body and there’s no surprise that childbirth leaves your delicate perineal area feeling sore and tender.
Our ice packs are also designed to help with breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is a wonderful way to bond with your baby and give them the nutrition that is designed exclusively for them. If you choose to breastfeed, our breast pads can be used hot and cold to help relieve discomfort throughout your feeding journey.
BodyICE was founded by Lydia Lassila, an Olympic gold medallist who originally developed icing products to help people recover from sports injuries. After having two children of her own, Lydia realised the need for simple yet effective solutions to help women recover from childbirth.
Giving birth can leave you feeling uncomfortable, swollen and in pain. You may have suffered from a perineal tear during labour or been given an episiotomy (a small cut in your perineum to make way for baby). You may even have been given stitches.
Even without stitches, your birth canal and perineum has had to stretch to allow your baby to come into the world which often leaves you sore and swollen. Your body needs to heal and you can help to relieve pain, welling and tenderness with our ice packs.
Our gel-bead perineal strips are easy to use and come with five disposable sleeves for hygiene. You can always purchase more sleeves separately if necessary. You can also just wash the perineum strip itself between use if you’re using it without the sleeves. Simply take the strip from your freezer, place inside your knickers and feel instant relief. Unlike other ice packs, they are designed to stay cold for an optimal time throughout use.
We have also designed gel-bead breast pads to help your breastfeeding journey go as smoothly as possible.
Use heated to help with let-down and release blocked milk ducts; it is important to carry on feeding and unclog the ducts as soon as possible to avoid infection and turning into mastitis. If you are suffering from mastitis, our gel bead pads can also bring relief.
These clever gel pads can also be used iced and help when your breasts are swollen or engorged.
In whatever mode you need them, they are easy to use and designed to fit comfortably around your nipples. You can even place them inside your bra and continue your life as a busy mum, although you might like the excuse to take some time out, relax and put your feet up!
